Here we will cover the steps needed to connect a truView Household to the corresponding Egnyte file system folder. Once completed, you will be able to access client files and folders in Egnyte directly from the truView client record.
Before you start, you will need to know your company Egnyte domain name - you can find this by logging into the Egnyte web interface (available on your Okta dashboard) then looking at the URL in the address bar.
Your domain name is whatever precedes the egnyte.com part, for example if the URL is truind.egnyte.com, the Egnyte domain name would be truind.
Establishing The Connection
In order to connect Egnyte folders to the truView client record, you will first need to enable the partner integration in truView. Each user will need to complete this step. Steps are detailed below and also in the following video.
- Login to truView & click on the gear icon to access the User Settings page
- Click Partner Integrations in the "My Integrations" section
- Scroll down the list of available integrations until you see the Egnyte section
- Click on the button to enable the integration
- Enter your Egnyte domain name in the Domain field and enable the API Access option
- You will be prompted to login to Egnyte and allow the API to connect, click Allow Access
- Once you see the green check mark, you can close the pop up window
- Click Save on the integration setup window
That completes initial setup, you can now move on to connecting folders to Households.
Connecting a Folder to a Household
Now that you have setup the integration, you need to connect your client Household to its corresponding Egnyte folder, follow the steps and video below.
- Find the appropriate Household in truView & click on the Documents tab
- You should see a new entry called root (Egnyte) with a blue folder icon next to it.
- Click on the blue folder and you'll see a pop up with 2 options - Add a new folder in Egnyte or Link to and existing folder in Egnyte. Here we are linking to an existing folder but if this is a new Household, you can easily create the Egnyte folder from here.
- Click Link to an existing folder then type the name of the folder you want to link to in the "Search Folders" box.
- The search will return a list of folders that match what you are looking for, simply click on the correct folder and then click Save
- Once the system processes, you will see the contents of the connected folder in the Household documents tab.
That's all there is to it, once you have the folder connected, you can perform any file operations such as new files, editing existing files etc directly from the truView interface.
